The Kia EV6 is an imported (CBU) electric crossover/SUV built on the E-GMP platform it shares with sibling Hyundai's IONIQ 5, first launched in India in 2022 at around Rs 59.95 lakh and given a facelift in March 2025 that increased battery capacity from 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh. Claimed range figures are quoted as up to 663 km under the ARAI cycle or 581 km under the stricter WLTP standard, a gap worth noting when comparing it against rivals that quote figures under only one of the two standards. Positioned as Kia's core imported electric model, the EV6 sits below the larger, more expensive EV9 in the brand's lineup but well above the domestically produced Carens Clavis EV and Syros EV in both price and performance character, offering buyers a sportier, more design-forward crossover shape than the practical, family-focused MPV and SUV models further down Kia's electric range. Sharing its underlying E-GMP platform and much of its technology with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 gives the EV6 a proven engineering pedigree, while its own distinct styling and interior give it a separate identity for buyers who prefer Kia's design language over Hyundai's.
