The Tata Sierra.ev, launched July 8 2026, is the newest and now the top-tier model in Tata's electric car lineup, reviving the Sierra nameplate that Tata originally sold as a distinctive boxy SUV in the early 1990s and bringing it back as a modern 7-seat compact SUV built for the electric era. It shares its 63 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs and underlying technology with the Harrier.ev, with claimed range figures between roughly 565 km and 665 km (MIDC) depending on configuration, and an all-wheel-drive variant rated at around 624 km. The Sierra.ev's 7-seat layout distinguishes it from every other model in the current Tata.ev range, giving Tata a dedicated answer to larger-family buyers who need a third row, a segment where it now competes directly with the Hyundai Creta Electric and Mahindra BE 6 on price and positioning despite its larger seating capacity. The Sierra name carries genuine nostalgic weight among Indian car buyers who remember the original 1990s model, and Tata has leaned into that heritage as part of the new EV's marketing, positioning the Sierra.ev as both a practical family SUV and a callback to one of Tata's most recognisable classic nameplates.
