The VinFast VF 7, commercially launched in India on September 6 2025 alongside the smaller VF 6, from around Rs 20.89 lakh, is VinFast's core mid-size electric SUV and the step-up model in the Vietnamese manufacturer's two-model Indian lineup. It is offered with 59.6 kWh and 70.8 kWh battery packs, delivering a claimed range of roughly 438 km to 532 km (ARAI) depending on the pack chosen, and like the VF 6 is manufactured at VinFast's dedicated plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. As VinFast's mainstream volume model in India, the VF 7 is positioned to be the brand's primary sales driver as it establishes itself in a new market, sharing its underlying platform and much of its engineering with the VF 6 while offering more size, a larger available battery and a higher price point for buyers who want more space and range than the entry-level model provides. VinFast entered India as a genuinely new international entrant to the market rather than an established global brand extending into India, making the VF 7's reception an important early signal of how receptive Indian buyers are to newer, less-established EV manufacturers compared to legacy automakers.
